Uses: Feature plant as a weed-suppressing ground cover in verges, mixed beds and embankments. Grows well amongst and beneath taller plants. Requires well-drained soils. Attracts native birds and insects for food source and habitat.
Cultural use: Indigenous peoples soaked the flower spikes to make a sweet drink and dry cones to make implements.
Note: Although this species is not classified under the Sewerage Act, it is recommended that it not be planted closer than two metres to any sewer main or connection.
