Uses: An ornamental tussock grass for damp localities, wetlands, ponds, dams and watercourses.
Butterfly attracting, caterpillar food.
Habitat for small birds.
Cultural use: Indigenous peoples wove into baskets and capes of 'basket rush' worn around shoulders and neck to cure toothache.
