Uses: Can be used as a screen or ground cover in coastal locations, native parks and reserves. The Clematis is 'dioeceious' with slightly different flowers on the female and male plants. The flowers on the females produce seedheads with fluffy white and silvery beards which is why they are often reffered to as ' Old-mans's Beard'. Does best in well-drained soils. Provides nesting sites for native birds and attracts bees.
Cultural use: Indigenous peoples used the cooked roots for food, fibre for decoration and leaves as a medicine.
