Large Banksia from the eastern states. Has spectacular yellow flower spikes appearing in late winter spring.

Other varieties of this plant include
B. spinulosa Birthday Candles" - 0.5 m high x 1 m across; short, orange spikes with reddish styles.
B. spinulosa"Coastal Cushion" - 0.5 m high x 1.5 m across and displaying yellow and maroon spikes.
B. spinulosa "Stumpy Gold" - 0.4 m high x 1.2 m wide  golden flower spikes
Nectar from these plants attracts native birds.  Good plant for native gardens.
Does best in sandy well drained soils.
