Uses: Formerly Acmena smithii. As a feature shade tree in open areas, parks and reserves.
Can grow to 20m in wetter coastal areas of north eastern Australia. Generally smaller in drier southern locations. Pink, white or purple fruit can cause a litter problem and should be planted away from pavements or walk-ways.
Can be maintained as a hedge or grown as a wind-break.
Showy fruit appears in winter and can be eaten raw or made into jam.
