Uses: Tall widely planted date palm from the North Africa and the Canary Islands. Does need to be grown in areas where there are hot summers. Can be grown along avenues or in clumps to create point of interest in a larger space.
Dates are a staple food source in many parts of the world and are grow widely as a commercial food crop.
Can tolerate dry conditions as well as pollution and compacted soils.
Care should be taken when growing near native bushland as these plants will propagate easily from seed.
Lower leaves can be sawn off at the trunk.
