Uses: Common hardy tree in a variety of urban locations.
Grown both as a feature tree or for its fruit.
Can be pruned to keep a manageable size and shape.
Fruit attracts a variety of flora and fauna in season.
Needs to be protected from frost when young.
Best in well drained soils.
Fruit can be eaten from the tree, dried or turned into jams.
There are several cultivars available including F. carica 'Black Genoa', F. carica 'White Genoa', F. carica 'Brown Turkey'.
