Size can vary depending on conditions but this is a very tall tree and care should be taken when selecting locations.
It is mainly cultivated as a plantation tree. The trees' hardwood is a valued resource in the timber industry.
Does not tolerate severe frosts.
Tree has become established along coastal areas of California in the U.S.
