Uses: Ornamental pear from Europe and Asia. This species has leaves that are slightly silvery and can add an interesting contrast to your garden. Can be used as a feature or planted along an avenue. Does produce small fruit which could be an issue in high traffic areas. The P. nivalis 'Snow Pear' cultivar is more tolerant to extremes of temperature than some other ornamental pears.
Best grown in full sun in a moist fertile soil.
